Harshness vanished. A sudden softness has replaced the meadows' wintry grey. Little rivulets of water changed their singing accents. Tendernesses, hesitantly, reach toward the earth from space, and country lanes are showing these unexpected subtle risings that find expression in the empty trees.
Early Spring by Rainer Maria Rilke

Today was the beauty after the storm....and storm it did! I loved walking into the still warm night( 58 degrees is warm right now...), watching the lightning split the inky sky in two and hearing the thunder roll through the valleys....listening to the rain play a lovely music on my bedroom window and the water pipes outside...
This morning dawned lovely, the clean air, still a bit chilly, but clear and skies as blue as the robin's egg. Speaking of.... I saw one! A large robin with glossy dark wings and a bold red breast, singing as if to bring the Spring it heralds by sheer song power! It made me so giddy walking in the bright sunlight going for my afternoon coffee. Then I was thinking, it really is the little things that bring the biggest smile to my face and my heart....oh and the color pink." ( well in this season anyhow, see my description) The little things, hmmm....like drinking tea out of the adorable chipped tea cup with pink dogwoods in my drab lunch room at work, my nails being a sweet orchid pink color against my black keyboard, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches where the jelly is squishing out the sides, pink ballet flats ( the story is that I have a friend who seeing me in my real ballet shoes heading to the cafeteria on campus or wandering Krogers claimed that I started the trend...;) ), speaking in French or Italian and feeling European for a second, after lunch minty dark chocolates, pink baby cheeks framing big baby blue eyes, putting my afternoon coffee in my pretty caraffe with pink and green and cream flowers climbing the sides, pink pearls with a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers, receiving handwritten notes from three friends in one day ( I feel so loved!!!) doing a puzzle with pink cotton clouds and a riot of colored flowers along a Grecian temple while having amazing conversation with a close friend, listening to the sweet trio of womenThe Puppini Sisters sing soda shoppe songs, getting asked to be a bridesmaid in my brother's wedding ( squeal!!), seeing all the lovely girlishness in the newest edition of my favorite online magazine (http://www.matchbookmag.com/)....and this was just my weekend.....:)
